A Contemporary Evening promises an outstanding synthesis of the works of Robbins’s energy (The Cage), Lander’s virtuosity (Etudes), and Ratmansky’s witty brilliance (Russian Seasons). The three works bring out the masters of contemporary choreography.
Etudes embodies the much loved qualities of ballet: white tutus, lyrical duets, beautiful solos, familiar music, and a powerful finale.
The Cage is a short and extravagant performance with which Anastasia Stashkevich earned a Golden Mask award.
Russian Seasons is a fusion of melancholy and boisterousness of chilling, impassioned rebellion. Leonid Desyatnikov’s score makes this a complex, vivid, tragic and fascinating performance.
The combination of the three choreographed works are a very welcome addition to Bolshoi's repertoire.
