Graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Department of History and Theory of Art, 1981). Head Researcher at Graphics Departmentphics of the Pushkin Museum; keeper of a collection of oriental paintings and drawings. Holds a special course "Visual Arts of Japan of the Edo Period" at the Department of Japanese History and Culture at the Institute of Asian and African Countries (since 2003).
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (Department of Art Criticism, since 2007). Honored Culture Professional of the Russian Federation (2002). Member of the Association of Historians of Japanese Art (1994). Member of the International Ukiyo-e Society (2010).
