Born in Moscow. In 1976, she graduated from the Prokofiev Children's Music School No. 1; in 1980, from the Theoretical and Composition Faculty of the Academic Music College at the Moscow Conservatory; and in 1985, from the Historical and Theoretical Faculty of the Moscow Conservatory.
Doctor of Arts, Professor of the Department of History of Foreign Music at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Leading Researcher at the Department of Classical Western Art of the State Institute for Art Studies.
Area of scientific interest: Western European music of the 18th–20th centuries, particularly the musical art of Austria and Germany in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Author of monographs on Beethoven, Handel, and Gluck; one of the compilers of the four-volume edition of Beethoven's letters translated into Russian.
Participant in numerous international conferences and congresses (Germany, Great Britain, Russia). Member of the Russian Society for the Study of the 18th Century under the Russian Academy of Sciences.
