Gaetano Donizetti

Wiener Staatsoper: Anna Bolena

Венская опера: Анна Болейн

The high expectations for the Vienna State Opera’s first-ever staging of Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena” were surpassed thanks to its cast of vocal giants. Anna Netrebko sparkles in her role debut alongside Elīna Garanča and other superb singers such as Elisabeth Kulman, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo and Francesco Meli. “Ms. Netrebko scored a personal triumph as Anna Bolena”, wrote The New York Times. Mezzo Elīna Garanča joins Netrebko here for their first appearance together on the stage of the Vienna State Opera. As the man between two women, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo brings a powerful sensuality to his role as Henry VIII.

Salzburg: La Traviata

This recording of Verdi’s "La Traviata" from the 2005 Salzburg Festival – the uncontested and hopelessly sold-out highlight of the festival season – captures the triumphal performance not only of Anna Netrebko as Violetta Valéry, but also of Rolando Villazón as her lover Alfredo.
