Biography

Russian writer, literary scholar, publicist, translator, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor in the Department of World Literature at the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State Pedagogical University (MPGU). Member of the Union of Writers of Russia (Moscow City Organization).

Born on June 26, 1954, in Moscow. After graduating from school, he studied at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) from 1972 to 1973. In 1974, he entered the Faculty of Philology at Moscow State Pedagogical University (MPGU), graduating with honors in 1979. From 1982 to 1989, he was a researcher at the Research Institute of Art Education of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, where he focused on film education for schoolchildren.

Since 1999, he has worked at Moscow State Pedagogical University. Since 2000, he has also worked at the Humanitarian Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting.

He is the author of more than 40 scholarly and methodological works, as well as several monographs.

Laureate of the Russian National Acting Award "Figaro" named after Andrei Mironov (2024) in the category "Education through Art." Nominee for the "Enlightener" (Prosveitel) Prize (2018).

Evgeniy Zharinov is described as a representative of the "estate of erudites," a discovery for the reading public hungry for knowledge but unable to spend much time in archives and libraries. His lectures captivate audiences with their attention to detail and a multifaceted approach to literary works.
