An outstanding French opera singer, one of the finest baritones of our time, he was born in Marseille and graduated from the Paris Opera's School of Opera Art. He is a winner of the 1998 International Operalia Competition. He debuted at the Opéra de Lyon in bel canto and Mozart roles and has since performed on virtually all the world's major stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Royal Opera House, the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Salzburg Festival, and others.
His repertoire includes roles such as Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Belcore (L'elisir d'amore), Henry Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alfonso XI (La favorite), Richard Forth (I puritani), Carlos (Ernani), Don Carlo di Vargas (La forza del destino), Renato (Un ballo in maschera), title roles in Eugene Onegin, Macbeth, Rigoletto, and Simon Boccanegra, Rodrigo di Posa (Don Carlo), Amonasro (Aida), Valentin (Faust), Scarpia (Tosca), Wolfram von Eschenbach (Tannhäuser), and others.
